Jakob Strom Biog
Jakob was born 1969 and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. At 22 Jakob moved to San Francisco, to attend Art College and graduated with a Major in Advertising/Design. He moved back to Sweden and worked as a senior Art Director at various boutique advertising agencies winning many awards.
In 2002 Jakob took the leap over to the film side and started his career as a director’s assistant to Fredrik Bond. After a year doing major film productions all around the world, Jakob felt ready to take his first step as a director.Jakob met Johan Renck and Jonas Åkerlund and was signed to their production company RAF (Renck Åkerlund Film). His first job was a music video for the Cardigans which was later nominated as “the best music video” on the Grammys Awards (2006).
His many awards include a Gold Clio Student Award (1996), Eurobest Gold Film category (1997), Golden Swan/Humor prize at the Nordic Advertising Festival (1998) a Silver Egg Award for print (2002). In 2006 Jakob hit the jackpot in Finland winning the Grand Prix (Voitto and Gold) and Vuoden Huiput for Igglo.
In 2010 Jakob joined Another Film Company and enjoys his regular trips to London which has now become his second home.
