MARTHA DELAP

Biography

Martha’s directorial debut was ‘Gordon Ramsay’s The F Word’ and ‘Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares’, for which she won a BAFTA. Her work with Gordon continued with gastronomic adventure around India in ‘Gordon’s Great Escape’. She then went on to shoot two series of ‘Super Food’ with Jamie Oliver, having worked with him extensively on many of his recipe documentaries over the years.

Although she has unrivalled experience in making food programs – working with Nigel Slater, Sophie Dahl and Jamie Oliver to name a few – she has also directed documentaries on subjects from fashion to marriage to homelessness.

One of her skills is her ability to connect with presenters and contributors alike, quickly gaining their trust and confidence. She is as happy working with non-actors as actor, and always delivers relaxed, honest and intimate performances. Her entertaining films have a reputation for great story telling, a lightness of touch and for their spontaneous magic moments.

She broke into commercials directing Jamie Oliver in Sainsbury’s Feed Your Family for a Fiver campaign. Since then she has combined a successful TV career with commercials; working with agencies including AMV, BBH and Isobel on brands such as Sainsbury’s, KFC, Werther’s Originals and Tesco.

She directed the beautiful food series for BBC2 starring Sophie Dahl – ‘The Delicious Miss Dahl.’ 6 half hour episodes all with Sophie cooking and waxing lyrical about the inspiration behind her recipes, a visual feast. Most recently she’s been working with the ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner Nadiya Hussain. She’s shot two series with her around Bangladesh and the UK in ‘The Chronicles of Nadiya’, and the duo have just returned to our screens in ‘Nadiya’s Family Favourites’ (on air July/August 2018)
